The Race for Education
On Friday, March 31st, local activist Jaime Flores and Worcester Mayor Tim Murray made two laps around Worcester Common to raise awareness for an education fundraiser. Flores will be running in the Boston Marathon for the 26th time this year and will be running to raise money for GED programs at Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC).
Over the years, Flores has been frustrated by encountering people who do not pursue the GED because they do not have the $65 it costs to register for the test. The money raised will be used for test fees and preparation materials, including books and practice tests.
To get involved in the fundraiser or contribute money to this worthy cause, please contact WCAC by email or by phone at (508) 754-1176. You can also mail donations or stop by the office. The address is WCAC GED Fundraiser, 484 Main Street, Second Floor, Worcester, MA 01608.
Every dollar donated will help young people achieve their educational dreams. Every dollar counts.
